Technology & systems

The tools, methods, and workflows behind our EEG data acquisition and reporting.

Our Technical Philosophy

Every component of our workflow — from electrode placement through report delivery — is designed around three principles: signal quality, reproducibility, and transparency. We do not use black-box processing or proprietary scoring that cannot be examined. When we deliver a report, you know exactly what normative framework was used, what processing was applied, and what the data shows.

Hardware

Professional-grade EEG acquisition hardware with research-quality amplification and electrode systems.

Primary System

We use professional-grade EEG systems from trusted manufacturers — EEG Info amplifiers, BrainMaster, Thought Technology, Nexus, and UWIZ — selected to fit the protocol and channel count for each recording.

Amplifier

Multiple amplifier types supported depending on protocol; channel counts range from single-site to full 19-channel 10-20 montages.

Electrode System

Standard 10-20 and 10-10 placement; cap or individual electrodes depending on the acquisition system and protocol.

Montage Options

Resting-state eyes-open and eyes-closed, ClinicalQ 5-site, TQ7 multi-channel (3×60s), Site_7, and task-state protocols — all supported in one pipeline.

Analysis Pipeline

Multi-protocol quantitative analysis supporting resting-state, ClinicalQ, TQ7, and task-state recordings across multiple normative frameworks.

Software

The EEG Paradox Decoder: a custom analysis and reporting platform that accepts EDF, BXS, BDF, and other standard recorded formats and runs quantitative analysis, connectivity (Granger), traceroute, and structured reporting.

Normative Databases

Six normative frameworks in one system (e.g. Swingle/ClinicalQ, Cuban Wave 1 & 2, Gunkelman, Published Norms, Average Adult). The framework used for each report is always documented — no silent fallbacks.

Custom Pipeline

Band power, ratios, coherence, Granger connectivity, EEG Traceroute, NetOps-style analysis, pattern and phenotype detection, ClinicalQ-style markers, vigilance and TBI-related metrics. Deterministic and configuration-driven: same inputs and settings produce the same outputs.

Artifact Processing

Artifact awareness from setup through processing; optional ICA and artifact rejection for processed exports; quality flags when data may be non-interpretable so you know when re-recording is recommended.

Reporting Engine

Deterministic reporting system — same inputs and settings produce the same outputs every time. Reports are structured, labeled, and reproducible.

Report Format

Structured text reports (.txt), JSON detection results, optional HTML dashboards. Every run embeds a report core spec (bands, PSD params, norm set, thresholds) for full reproducibility.

Client Reports

Informational brain activity reports written in clear language for motivated clients — key metrics, patterns, and normative context without clinical interpretation.

Clinician Reports

Technical reports with full metrics, z-scores, topographic maps, optional connectivity and traceroute summaries; ClinicalQ-style text reports aligned to standard formats; formatted for licensed professional review.

Export Types

EDF (raw and processed), BXS, BDF, CSV metrics, JSON (detection results, segment metrics), report PDFs, and visualization exports including topomaps, trace viewer, Granger, LORETA, and 3D scalp topography.

Customization & Integration

Flexible workflows for clinician collaboration, data delivery, and neurofeedback protocol integration.

Clinician Delivery

Secure transfer of raw and processed files plus reports; optional Session Trend Consultation to discuss trends and observations; data release with written client authorization.

Neurofeedback Integration

Clean data export and protocol-relevant metrics compatible with common neurofeedback platforms (BrainMaster, Thought Technology, etc.); processed EDF and structured reports support session planning and progress review.

Additional Capabilities

Beyond standard recording and reporting, our analysis pipeline supports connectivity analysis, network-level metrics, and custom protocol development. These capabilities are available for clinician collaboration and research workflows.

  • EDF, BXS, BDF — multiple recording formats supported for processing and export
  • EEG Traceroute — network-style connectivity mapping
  • NetOps metaphors for communicating complex patterns
  • TBI marker analysis module
  • Multi-channel TQ7 support
  • Custom metric development
